What is a Nanny/Educator?

A qualified Nanny/Educator is a Child Development Specialist who understands the development of the whole child and works to assist the parent in the guidance of the child by offering learning through real life experiences with love, attention, acceptance and appreciation. This person is responsible for the complete care of the child in the event the parent is unavailable. The Nanny/Educator's role is to supplement the childcare. The pay is commensurate upon the experience and education of the Candidate. A Nanny/Educator should expect to receive a starting wage equivalent at $14 to $25 per hour.


What are the duties of a Nanny/Educator?

A Nanny/Educator is responsible for providing complete care of the child or children in their presence by offering individualized attention in the Client's home while working in collaboration with the parent and or guardian.


How do I qualify as a Nanny/Educator?

Minimum 20 years of age
12 ECE (Infant/Toddler is a plus) units or equivalent
2 years experience working with children
CPR/First Aide Certificate
Negative TB test results
Registration with Trustline®

Have legal authorization to work in the U.S.

 

What is TrustLine®?

The California Legislature created TrustLine® to offer parents, agencies and providers access to background checks.  A background check will include the Criminal History system, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) records along with a Child Abuse Index Check.  California state law §1812.501 of the civil code applies to all childcare providers working within a home.  The records are accessible through the Department of Social Services and are transferable with TrustLine®.  An advantage of registration shows pride in oneself and professionalism.


How long will a placement take?

Quality care is an important aspect in the foundation of children. Child Care Companions takes needs and dynamics of the family and attributes of a potential Candidate into consideration for any referral.  A Nanny/Educator's placement is also subject to their availability.  Contact Child Care Companions for more information.


What do we do differently?

Child Care Companions requires a personal, face-to-face interview with each potential Candidate.  In addition, Child Care Companions offers personal interviews in the home or office of the potential client seeking a Nanny/Educator.
